San Gabriel Valley Newborn Photographer - welcome baby Ayla!

This little one made me work today! Right around day 7-8 (I've found, this isn't science....of course) babies go through a crazy growth spurt and will need to feed every 20 minutes around the clock.

Finished her session covered in sweat…and pee, but boy was she beautiful to photograph. We did little's session on location as mom could not leave the house postpartum due to complications with the delivery. Brought my trusty assistant of a husband with me as I do with all on-location shoots. I wouldn't trust anyone else to spot me during shoots. We set up camp in the corner of her nursery and improvised our butts off! How we managed to set up all the equipment and squeeze dad in to spot the potato sack pose, I'll never know. And boy was it worth it, because this potato sack pose had dad’s protective hands all over it and although photoshopped out in post, Dad will always know that he was right there, holding her.

As always, here is my blessing for you baby Ayla,

No matter where you go, may you always feel the protection and love of those close to your heart. May you always see the glass as half-full and may you never stop following your heart. It will lead you to the most unexpected places and bring you on delightful adventures.

XO,
Lucy

San Gabriel Valley Newborn Photographer - Taraneh's Outdoor LA Maternity Session

The beach maternity session is here! We totally got in trouble...Did you know that you're not allowed on the lifeguard thingy? I mean, everyone's always on it. I even once saw a woman literally stay there for hours reading...anyway, the second we got there, a beach security person came by and "yelled" at us. They then told us Max couldn't be on the beach when all around us, I see dogs (albeit smaller than Max).

Taraneh was so beautiful in a purple knit dress she took my breath away. I can't wait to see these 2 as parents, they certainly are ready. Love being able to capture these candid moments where Leo made her laugh, kissed her belly, and whispered sweet nothings to her and their new baby daughter. I loved today...thank you for allowing me to photograph this amazing celebration

xoxo, cant wait to meet your little princess!

San Gabriel Valley Newborn Photographer - welcome baby Memphis!

The dreamiest, sleepiest, cuddliest little man came in the studio today. Memphis was just a week old and slept the entire session. He did pee ALL over my couch when we changed him but that’s what happens when you don’t include a changing station in the studio (it is now set up believe you me). I couldn’t believe how quickly he settled while mom/dad, and siblings waited patiently outside (thank goodness for Netflix).

Mom was a huge Harry Potter fan and her little one could not be a more perfect baby “Harry”.

As always, here is my blessing for you baby Memphis,

May you grow up with a great sense of adventure. May you face each day with an unwavering desire to make each day better than the one before. May you be quick to forgive those who hurt you and be extended endless grace in return. May all your days be filled with a deep love.

San Gabriel Valley Newborn Photographer - Taraneh's Indoor LA Maternity Session

This beautiful mama is expecting her first baby. To properly celebrate this momentous occasion, we decided to book 2 maternity sessions. One indoor session where the focus is on the drama and lighting and another one slightly later with dad and big brother Max (the most obedient german shepherd I ever did see) at the beach where the couple reside. For the second shoot we would go more dreamy and bright.

Mom came all by herself to the valley on a lazy and very hot Sunday afternoon. We decided to stay with monochrome palette to further enhance the drama in the images and boy was she beautiful. Mom was also a complete trooper because this shoot took place before the studio installed central air and boy was it hot that day... I'm so excited for you Taraneh, and so looking for our beach maternity session!

HouseOfWang Update - Weibo

Born the oldest of three, I grew up with an inflated and unwarranted sense of pride and prejudice (also the perfect movie to watch with your love interest, in my humble opinion) As I entered my teenage years as a particularly senseless youth, I rebelled against just about everything that came from my parents. If nothing else, maturing into my twenties has been a string of lessons on how very right they were and how very foolish I was. PSA to all my younger readers out there: “listen to your parents, stay in school”

Today I will share about how deeply I regret not keeping up with the written Chinese language. (At least I speak it completely fluently, which is more than I can say for my darling husband) Apparently I’m still prideful… with a touch of defensiveness I might add... joy.

Why, one might ask, am I regretful? After all, I live in America where the official spoken and written language is English. I operate a business domestically; and as I mentioned, my husband if stripped of the English language, wouldn’t get past the communicative skills of a Chinese toddler. Well, inquisitive one, it’s because I’ve officially established a presence on Weibo, the Chinese twitter.

In an effort to market myself to the entire client base here in SGV in SoCal, I’ve inquired into setting up yet another social media account. Last Saturday morning, I set up a marketing meeting with a good friend and ex-coworker of mine in old town Pasadena and registered myself on Weibo. Even though we are just days apart in age, I felt entirely like I was a good few generations older than her, asking a myriad of questions and feeling utterly overwhelmed and inadequate to operate my own twitter. In truth, I am ill-equipped since the whole thing is completely in Chinese.

Here’s the most recent post I put up (an engagement shoot in Malibu), took me a good few minutes using every single brain cell and concentrating like my life depended on it. After just a few words I felt so very spent and so very regretful that I didn’t listen to my parents… I could’ve been a pro at this but instead, with each painstaking word, I am reminded that parents do know best… at least on the subject of keeping up with Chinese.

Shame on me for not listening... and see ya on Weibo!
